Welcome to BC-Youth, a community supporting youth connection, well-being, inclusion, voice, learning and a global perspective.
At BC Youth, we believe that inclusion is not simply about awareness, but about how people are understood in practice. Too often, young people are expected to adapt to systems that were not designed with their ways of thinking, learning, or communicating in mind. True inclusion begins when we rethink these systems, and create environments where every young person can be understood, feel safe to be themselves, and have the freedom to grow.
Our work focuses on understanding how differences in thinking, communication, and lived experience shape the way young people engage with the world. By combining community-based initiatives with research, we aim to identify real needs and develop practical approaches that improve communication, support learning, and foster more inclusive interactions, particularly for neurodivergent individuals and those from underserved communities.
We host the International Youth Forum as a space where these ideas can be explored in practice. Bringing together youth from diverse backgrounds, the forum examines how meaning is interpreted differently across contexts, and how clearer, more thoughtful communication can be developed through dialogue and collaboration.
Our early work began with expanding access to education through online learning in science, coding, English, and mathematics. This experience continues to shape our approach today, reinforcing the importance of accessibility, adaptability, and meeting young people where they are.
We believe that meaningful change does not happen all at once, but through continuous effort to better understand one another. Step by step, we work toward a world where differences are not barriers, but the starting point for deeper understanding, and where everyone has a genuine sense of belonging.
BC-Youth is a youth-led, volunteer-driven organization offering meaningful volunteer opportunities for students in Grades 6–12.
